Blogs and Advice Columns In order to participate in blogs and advice columns, users will be asked to provide their first name and email address. However, only the user’s first name will be posted in her blog or question to advice columnists. All submissions will be reviewed by moderators for appropriate language and content before posting. Users may also contact us with specific questions about the site. We will collect first name and email address information in order to respond to the user’s request. However, this information will be deleted immediately after responding to the user’s request. Regular Emails and E-Newsletters In order to receive regular emails and e-newsletters from SKG, users will be asked to provide their first name, email address, birth date, parent’s name, and parent’s email address. We collect birth date information so that we can verify the age of the user. If the user is under 13, we will make reasonable efforts to ensure that the parent receives notice and is informed of the opportunity to opt-out of further use of the information collected. Refer a Friend Throughout the SKG Website, users will have the opportunity to refer a friend to the Website. The user will be asked to provide her first name and the email address of her friend. An email will be sent to her friend and will include her first name only. The information collected from the user (first name) and the information collected about her friend (email address) will be deleted immediately after the refer-a-friend email is sent. At times, SKG will host online radio shows. Girls will have the opportunity to call in and direct questions to the show host or guest. We will not collect information from girls who participate in these shows. At times, SKG sponsors contests. To participate in a contest, we will collect first and last name, email address, and mailing address. The mailing address will be used to send the winner her prize. This information will be deleted immediately after the contest ends. SKG also provides an email address for girls to send pictures of hairstyles that they enjoy. Pictures will not be posted on the Website. These pictures may be included in the SKG e-newsletter; however, pictures that identify users must be approved by a parent before it can be included in the SKG e-newsletter. Pictures that do not contain identifiable information may be included without parent permission. The SKG Websites use "cookie" technology (where our servers deposit special codes on a visitor's computer) to track non-personal information, such as the number of visitors who visit the Website each day and what Websites they come to our site from. This information helps us improve our Website and does not include any specific information about individual visitors that would allow us to identify them. At any time, parents may review the information their child is sharing online. Requests to review a child’s information may be requested by mail or a phone call to our office.
